Had a wonderful weekend. My parents came down from brissy to babysit BlueBelle while we went out to have a bit of a farewell party, and an early birthday celebration for Bessie. Thanks to all of you who came along.
Also thanks for some really encouraging comments on our posts. One thing I have learnt is that inspiration is very much a 2 way street.
So something I have been considering since we started this is the fact that by YOU getting out and bringing a little spontaneous inspiration into someone else’s life you get it reflected back in spades.
You don’t have to be a guru, or know everything about the universe to change someone’s day, and hence your own. It seems there is literally a magical property to brining a little light to others.
Im quire interested in exploring this further. Love you to do the same and see what our results are.
Takes so little effort to verbally make someones day better. Not like you have to help them move house. Just open your mouth and tell them something you have learnt or noticed about them that might make there day better :-)
By the way did i mention - 'You look MARVELLOUS today' - haha

I did this yesterday -- I ran into an old work colleague of mine and I had always wanted to tell him what I thought about the way he had spent so much of his time volunteering -- I told him he had been the inspiration to me, which had driven me to go out and volunteer myself.
ReplyDeleteHe tried to play it down, because he is not one for self-glorification, but I know he appreciated hearing that.
:-)
we all lead busy lives and have things that stress us out...it takes nothing to say something nice - just because you can - and make someone feel special - even if just for that moment....it can be anythng from "gee you look nice today" or "thanks for your help, i really appreciate it" We get so caught up in things, we really do need to step back and remember, life is a journey and it is what you make it. Most importantly, believe in Karma...be nice and you will attract nice people to you.
ReplyDeleteYou guys (without sounding corny) are an inspiration. after living such a blessed life, this life change is massive. I take my hat off to you for such a brave move. It will demonstrate to people that possessions are just that...and most of our possessions are so materialistic, but at the end of the day, all those possessions don't mean a thing, they can be replaced or better still lived without. family, love and friendship mean so much more. All the best Chantal
So many of us lead hetcic lives, often by our own choice.
ReplyDeleteMy partner of many years, took on the responsability, like so many others, of full time care for her terminally ill father. She has had to basically move back into her family home for the best part of 6 days a week, still maintaining contact and on call for the remainder on any days she has off, yet she doesn't consider this a chore. Although I try to support her as much as I can, she has an inner strength that keeps her going.
He was brought up, in the old way of thinking, that you went to hospital to die. He was fearfull to say the least of a hospital or hospis to live out his last days. Being of sound mind - most of the time, he can share what time he has left, with his wife, daughter and the rest of his family - without fear.
His smile, although not often these days, shows his appreciation and all the hard hours that would strain most relationships and families melt with the knowledge that he will pass with the love of his family - including grand and great grandchildren around him.
Although many, many months now, it is not really a burdon, just a choice. I find it somewhat interesting that the "universe" can change the way that we can reflect on life and what is important.
What goes around comes around - this is very true, also a healthy dose of optimism can go a very long way in life...many people seem to forget this. Even if something goes wrong in your day, it can still be a really good one. One of my favourite sayings is IF YOU SEE SOMEONE WITHOUT A SMILE, GIVE THEM ONE OF YOURS! :)
ReplyDeleteA brilliant saying Itisiracwell....
ReplyDeleteHeres a :) for all those whose heart is breaking and for all those who need loving.....
itisiracwell , your comment of "IF YOU SEE SOMEONE WITHOUT A SMILE, GIVE THEM ONE OF YOURS! :)" Is why we changed our life to accomodate my partner's father. As I mentioned before, He doesn't smile often these days, but this is our way of giving him our smile.
